Pushback Dinner Series: Heritage

It may have only been Don Pistos’s second ever dinner series but I already consider it tradition. The first one was a take on four different meats and wine pairings, prepared by four North Beach chefs (read about the first dinner here!). This time, they focused on each chef’s heritage, taking the lucky guests on a culinary adventure to Palestine, Italy, France and even our very own U.S.A…Tuscon to be exact. Cactus, anyone?


Peju Province Wineries made the trip from Rutherford in Napa to provide four delicious wines served with each course. My recommendation: Peju 2008 Cabernet Franc. Yum.

The evening’s winning dish? Pete Mrabe’s (Don Pisto’s) Flatbread & Meat Pie.  Paolo Giusti’s (Firenze by Night) Veal was a close second.
