I wouldn’t consider myself the biggest sandwich fan (although, I can’t imagine anything I’d rather eat than a PB&J), but Little Vine has definitely made my list of favorite eats in SF. Inspired by the neighborhood cheese vendors and butcher shops common throughout Europe, the owners strove to emulate a similar vibe in their North Beach store.
Each day, they hand make only one sandwich – I recommend going on Saturday when they always serve something with prosciutto (their Prosciutto with Mozzarella, Arugula & Quince Spread is to die for). Come too late, however, and you’ll miss out on their daily special as they only make a certain number.
Feel like a simple baguette with cheese, bottle of wine (likely from a local California vineyard) or just interested in finding a new addition to spice up your meal (think: porcini mushrooms, a sweet chutney or “bacon crack”…yes, it’s chocolate covered dry cured bacon)? Little Vine offers a hand selected variety of organic and artisan products.
Rough day at the office? They sell one of the best bloody mary mixes I’ve ever tried.
